Asbestos Exposure Information

In 1995, the Asbestos and Mesothelioma Center created Asbestos.com, to warn Americans about the dangers of asbestos exposure. April has been named 'Asbestos Awareness Month' and Asbestos.com has been campaigning across the web to educate those that are at risk.
They came across the Local Union 380 website while searching for popular electrical workers resources.
As you probably know, many electrical workers are exposed to asbestos during their careers. Almost every residential or commercial building built before 1980 contains some form of asbestos, which unfortunately is prone to becoming airborne during electrical installation, maintenance or repair. This exposure can result in a number of life-threatening respiratory conditions, as well as mesothelioma, a deadly cancer associated only with asbestos exposure.
In order to help better educate electrical workers on these risks, they have created an electrician-specific section that you can access here.
Additionally, Local 380 has added their site as a resource for our members under our list of important links.  This is important information for every contractor, electrician and apprentice.
